Dark blue rigid denim, perfect fit, American made, less than $32.00 a pair at the Army Navy store in Lexington, NC (Spring 2018). Recently, when my local retailer couldn’t seem to get my size (36x30), I went to another store nearby (Webster Brothers Ace Hardware in Walkertown, NC) and got a pair of high back rigid blue denim Pointers. To get the same perfect fit, I had to go with a 34x29 because apparently, they are sized bigger. I like the zipper bib pocket and the extra wide legs. Pointer brand overalls are made in Tennessee. I paid $49.09 after tax (in the summer of 2018), which is a LOT less than the $89.00 they charge on their website, or the even extortionately higher prices you see on the internet. Go figure.
The two brands are very different; Round-House has much narrower legs (about like a pair of Wranglers), shorter shoulder straps, and a more custom-looking fit. They look good new and they stay looking new for a long time. The two bib pockets have snaps, the pant pockets are deep, and the side pocket is deep enough to hold about any tool. As for the shoulder straps, at 5’ 10” and 153 lbs., I don’t want a lot of extra fabric, so these are perfect.
Pointers have a lower bib, much wider legs, longer shoulder straps, and a secure zippered bib pocket. The denim is also raw, rigid and a slightly different shade, but they look good and stay that way even after washing. Although those shoulder straps are longer than I would like, somehow Pointer overalls look and seem authentic, and they are very comfortable.
Since I know what it’s like to have your job outsourced to foreign labor in order for the company be “more competitive” (i.e. obscene bonuses for the senior corporate executives), I prefer to support the companies who use American workers to manufacture products I buy. Round-House overalls (made in Shawnee, Oklahoma) and Pointer Brand overalls (made in Bristol, Tennessee) are both made in the United States, they great products, so they are the only overalls I’ll wear. And I wear one or the other about every day.Tomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14733404.post-75259471532521528832018-02-13T04:44:18.416-05:002018-02-13T04:44:18.416-05:00Thank you for every one of your labor on this blog...Thank you for every one of your labor on this blog. Gloria takes pleasure in carrying out investigations and it's simple to grasp why. Most of us notice all about the lively method you provide sensible ideas by means of this website and as well as encourage response from people on that point so my girl is always being taught so much. Take pleasure in the rest of the year. He had always thought she was strong. He had showed it in everything he did, in every look and every touch. Simon had faith in her too, yet when he'd held her, it had been as if she were something fragile, something made of delicate glass. But Jace had held her with all the strength he had, never wondering if she could take it--he'd known she was as strong has he was.Band collar jackethttp://www.monarch-garments.com/cat_nehruj.aspnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14733404.post-13746674640714286472010-10-07T05:53:14.218-05:002010-10-07T05:53:14.218-05:00Baxter,

We live in the Blue Ridge of Va, where every country store used to stock these overalls; my husband has worn them for over 30 years, whether he was doing farming or working in his pottery studio. Now they seem to be permanently out of stock except in sizes for peanut or elephant sized men. And each inquiry I post at the website says they'll be available in 3 weeks....I've been posting inquiries for about 3 months. I'm worried my husband will begin to work without clothes in protest to this situation.... he has that spark of rebellion in him......Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14733404.post-79746804633411835522010-05-26T09:13:56.655-05:002010-05-26T09:13:56.655-05:00Greetings from Lancaster County SC! I do think Pointer makes a tailored cut as well. I'm cornfed so I need the full cut.

Thanks A lot!

Ryan JonesUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16206532572954282253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14733404.post-52781498985215639952008-05-23T09:09:00.000-05:002008-05-23T09:09:00.000-05:00Curtis:I don't know what they have there, but you ...Curtis:

I don't know what they have there, but you can buy them there in Bristol.

And...

i forgot to respond the other day, but, sure, you can use that story!Bifflehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13965722716159392121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14733404.post-82156660750401961672008-05-23T02:46:00.000-05:002008-05-23T02:46:00.000-05:00Hmmm. These cheap French ring-blade pocket knives, which locked in place via a simple tin ring once you folded the blade out (not the best knife I ever owned, but a great $7 knife for a guy who's lost an awful lot of pocket knives over the years... and Pointer brand overalls.

I bought my first pair at the Mast General STore in Valle Crucis, back before it became Watauga County's No. 1 tourist magnet... I think they cost me $15. They were lightweight and loose and comfortable...

Anyway, I found I really liked wearing them rock climbing, and since I was teaching climbing at the time, I wore them a lot. There was no waist to bind you, and they were so roomy you could get into all sorts of positions and just keep going. In the summer I wore them only a T-shirt, or sometimes without anything else. In the winter I'd toss a sweater over the ensemble.

That first pair wore out pretty quickly, and I got one or two more before I shipped out to the army in 1984. There's a picture of me in Germany wearing my rapidly fading Pointers.

When I got back to the states I couldn't find them anymore. I did eventually find a pair and they were just a lot more expensive than I was willing to pay. Plus I was feeling a bit too grown up for Pointer overalls.

But I may just have to order another pair now that you've found them and they're still made in the USA.

Hey, um... when can I bring you your chain saw? I don't know your street address...Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03899114436024719014noreply@blogger.com
