quick update 10:04 pm

We can't be in the ICU after 11 pm. Alison's exhausted so were leaving early and letting her sleep. But, quickly, i just want to mention that as of ten minutes ago, her face isn't as swollen as it was, her color is great, they planning on getting her out of ICU perhaps early tommorrow, and best of all she doesn't appear to be having anything more than the most rudimentary problems with language--an occasional slurred word or misplaced modifier.

Whoo-hoo!

Peter and Sarah:

Thank y'all so much for the wonderful lunch yesterday. I know all I managed was a terse hello yesterday, Sarah, but i--and everyone else--was very appreciative.

Me and James Bond had a very effective coping strategy and i didn't want to mess with it. I'll be more communicative if i see you again, i'm sure.

Walter - thanks for letting us know this good news! It is thoughtful of you to keep everyone informed when you yourself must be stressed & exhausted.

I'll keep sending positive thoughts that way. I'm so glad to hear that Alison has had caring (and supremely competent) medical staff there for support.

take care, Deandra

Walter,
I totally get your coping skills and was impressed with your holding it together. Unfortunately, I've spent far too much time in the waiting areas of hospitals. I know that people won't eat if they have to think about it. For me, standing in a line and trying to decide what to eat when waiting for news of a loved one's surgery drains what little emotional energy I have. Hence, the food.
