From Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, December 10, 1964

"When our days become dreary with low-hovering clouds and our nights become darker than a thousand midnights, we will know that we are living in the creative turmoil of a genuine civilization struggling to be born."

If you browse the web page, you can also read his bio and other interesting info.

My class is reading Desmond Tutu's Nobel lecture from 1984. Its also extremely relevant to catch a glimpse of how formal segregation before the civil rights era.

Many who would classify themselves as conservative would argue why should MLK day be celebrated? I get funny looks when I talk about 'color blind racism'. I wish we could teach more understanding and awareness of the world.

Thank you for expressing that awareness.
