Although Nero did not actually fiddle while Rome burned, Alison did indeed sleep while Benya Chewed. Here is a photo of the somewhat straightened glasses. Any suggestions as to what kind of new ones she should get?
Aaargh! How long have you had those? I've got no suggestions. I just always take someone with me and go try on frames - I don't ever feel I can judge what looks good on me. Your dad just takes the advice of the person showing him the glasses, as he can't see much without the lenses. Good luck!
Maybe they are more me but I think they are awesome. Too bad I don't need any.
hehehe or these... http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/1865000/images/_1868396_sally150.jpg *giggle* for the retro eighties look the youngsters are going for... ~Maig
Embrace change Alison. Definitely plastic frames instead of metal frames. I had metal frames for years and they were fine, but I love my new plastic ones (plus I look foxy in them). The Mom is right, though, you should definitely take someone with you when you pick out the frames.
I second Conseula's vote for plastic frames! I just got some cool new ones (after having the same ones for over 5 years) and they are totally hip and fun.
I liked the red frames you suggested, Maig, but not the Sally Jesse ones so much.
Deandra, I must see a picture of you in your hip new glasses!
Yes, I will go for plastic frames, but rest assured, people, they are not going to be very different from what I have now. As you all know, I am not so very comfortable with change, and these black funky frames are my signature look (such as it is). PLUS I just got a new publicity photo taken, and I don't want to suddenly have a totally new look that makes my publicity photo immediately outdated.
plastic is for the proletariat! as biffle seems to be an artist, why not have him CARVE a set of glasses? hard to beat good southern white oak, and obsidian or volcanic glass make carvings. biffle might even earn a non-negative wage for once in his life, even if feminism seems to relegate men to being sexual drones.
Alison Piepmeier was a professor in the Women's and Gender Studies Program at the College of Charleston, and much, much more. When she wasn't working to bring down the patriarchy, she wrote here and elsewhere about feminist disability studies, Zines, her ugly car, and an eclectic range of topics. She also wrote about the brain tumor that eventually caused her death on August 12, 2016, at the age of 43.

I really like Consuela's suggestions (hi Consuela!). What about something rectangular - that's my new favorite groovy style.
love,

And your new publicity photos are so fab!
Mine are similar to yours, but a dark tortoiseshell instead of black. Hugo Boss, Pearle Vision in Mt P Towne Center. Love them!
oh oh, the "publicity" photo! i saw it!! i like black rectangularish frames in general, but not crazy harsh.. it could be like a hybrid of old/new.
OK, so when do we get to see this publicity shot??

"carving" is a craft, not an art. and i. am. not. a. drone. i. am. not. a. drone.
Hi Deandra and Cate! I can't wait to see the new glasses, Alison.
And where do I get my sex drone? Did I miss the day the feminists were handing them out?
