Op ed!

Amber Cantrell and I finally got our op-ed published.  We wrote it over the summer and have sent it to, I think, seven newspapers.  Persistence pays off!

"Looking anew at Down syndrome" in The State.

Love the line about the rest of us not having an excuse. I think there are some T-shirts about autism that say something similiar. Funny. Perhaps twisted funny, but funny.

[I really should email instead of these long comments...] Not unrelated. I just found the ltr sent w/G's Ds confirmation. Horrific glum letter, but I have only positive memories of the med staff at the time. Hmmm....

I always love it when you comment on the blog! Although I love emails, too.

Where, pray tell, is your blog these days? I keep looking, but no updates. I figure you're super-busy.

krir, I also liked that line about not having an excuse. It reminded me of a button I have that reads, "There are no normal people - just people you don't know very well!" (Or something like that - it's on my briefcase at the church right now, so I can't refer to the exact wording...) I gave up trying to be "normal" a long time ago! :-)

That article is the bomb. Put that good word out there Alison! So proud to know you! We'll be in Washington DC in July! Hope to see you! All of you... You know I think exactly as the other commenters- to me it's just a matter of hidden differences vs out in the open differences and I prefer things out in the open. Big fan of transparency as a goal...
Is this a long comment contest :)?
