Cranky

We might have fleas.  We're itchy around here, all of us, and I think some of them might be living in the bed.

So I vacuumed.  And let's be clear, I didn't do it well.  But I did it.  And I took all the stuff I vacuumed up and threw it away outside, so a vacuum container full of roiling fleas and flea eggs isn't growing new fleas in the corner.

I'm washing the sheets and comforter (which were also peed on--not by Maybelle) in very hot water, and I'm going to dry them in the dryer until they're untouchably hot.

I'm going to call Terminix tomorrow.  We have a whole house bug contract, which means flea treatments are FREE.  That was a good move back in the day!  They'll come in and spray incredibly toxic chemicals all over the house.  If anybody reading this has thoughts about using homeopathic remedies, all natural oils or something, those thoughts may be entirely valid--but I don't want to hear them.  You tell a friend how unhinged Alison Piepmeier is, and let me be.  I want the fleas dead.

Now I'm going to go eat my current favorite food:  waffles with peanut butter (Jif, thank you very much, not some healthy peanut butter), syrup (Log Cabin), and bananas.  Maybelle's having ice cream.

That is all.

What is it your dad said when we had brown recluses? Thermo-nuclear winter? (I'm sure he'll correct me if I've got it wrong!) I'm glad you have the contract that will take care of it!

One of my words to type in to "prove you're not a robot" was "eakfart"!

I told the exterminator, "Do you have an insecticide called 'Thermonuclear Winter?'" That is the one I wanted him to use.

I'm with you, baby, as far as the fleas -- oh, and the Jif. And fuck the whole sugar thing with the bananas. Sounds delicious. Our dog became resistant to flea medication, and we finally started giving her this giant pill of some sort of horrid toxin once a month and they finally, finally died.

I was like an insane person until then.

We love Terminix and Jif. Good luck getting rid of the buggars...

I heard something promising about Jif in microbiology class. I don't currently remember what it was, but I've been eating it ever since. And just wait- if Maybelle hasn't had head live yet, it is so much fun! And you'll dream about the bugs on her head for the rest of your life just like I did last night!!!

Head lice, that is. You probably figured.

When we had the fleas, we knew, because our cats would frequently suddenly jump like something bit them. So the skittishness of the cats reinforced the feelings of itchiness that we got (because, you know, you feel itchy a lot. Was it a random itch, or was it a flea? And are you noticing it more now at random or is there actually a reason for the more itchiness?). So the cats get Advantage to kill the fleas without hurting the cats (unlike the cheap flea stuff), and we vacuum every day to kill the eggs, and in a few days, we're good. I hope the Terminex plan goes well! --judson

Thanks for all your validation, y'all!

I'm a huge fan of Thermonuclear Winter. It's happening on Monday!

And Abi, I know that lice is an inevitable part of our future...we haven't had it yet, but it's going to be a nightmare for me, because my head is ALWAYS itchy anyway (lack of cleanliness). Fortunately, Maybelle inherited Biffle's hair, so it's very fine--I think we can see even the first louse when it appears.
