Here's the second substanceless post of the weekend.
When, you might ask yourself, was the last time Alison had bangs? 1986 is the answer. Ninth grade. I looked cool for about six months, and then I started growing them out, and that was the end of that.
Until now. Here is the sad state of affairs: my surgery haircut has decided to become bangs. There's not a thing I can do about it. I brush the little curls back continuously throughout the day, and they keep drifting down, as though they're a deliberate look of some sort. They're not true bangs, just a tuft, a mini-bang.
Biffle is being sweet and saying he thinks it's cute, but I'm disgusted. Claire and Marguerite both suggested I adopt a funky tiny-barrette look, but I think I'm at least a decade too old for that. So this is my look, for the moment. Maybe I should go ahead and play it up as a Superman-style curl.

Bangs are totally in now!
Oh, I like the tiny barrette idea. I think it is cute, regardless of age (unless, it is actually the whole "cute" thing you're trying to stay away from!).
You know what's subtle? The bobby pin. I find it can solve many a hair problem without undermining my dignity with bows and glitter.
But the facial expression really makes the look, Alison! ;-)
I think you are never too old for a tiny barrette or bobby pin. I might, however, avoid the plastic ones shaped like sparkly unicorns or rainbow heart ones with your name painted on them (which, sadly, I still have in my hair-stuff drawer. No one else in my family can wear them.)

I am pro bangs.
I understand- some people are bangs people and some people are not- it's that forehead thing. I have a Baird forehead, no nifty widow's peak like my mother- I must do bangs, must bob the bobble head (: I tried being bangless once...really I did. My forehead felt shamefully naked. It didn't stop that one strand falling forward- I just make it work for me, "signature look" -lol! In other words, until it grows out, and it will, work with what you got (: You're still a diva!
I can't tell from the picture. Did the hair over the incision site come back in white? I have a friend that happened to, and we thought it was so cool. Maybe none of my business, but I thought I'd ask.

Ooo, wouldn't that be cool? No, it's the same color as the rest of my hair. I'm definitely getting more gray, but it doesn't seem to be localizing.
And for you barrette/bobby pin advocates, I haven't tried anything yet, but I might.
I am pro-bangs! Regardless, you would look lovelier if you weren't scowling.

bobby pins rule! they keep all my frizzy curly craziness in check when i want them to. i get the small dark brown flat colored ones so they hide in my hair and you can't tell.
